The Louvre

The Louvre, one of the most beautiful palaces in the world, is the largest of Parisian buildings. In addition to its sumptuous collections of French, Italian and Spanish school paintings, it houses priceless Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Oriental antiques. Nowadays, the Louvre is an essential place, easily accessible by metro from our hotel, offers a wide panorama of art in all its forms, from painting to sculpture and objects of art from all over the world. of the world.

Residents of our hotel can admire many masterpieces (the Mona Lisa, the Venus of Milo, the Victory of Samothrace, or the Raft of the Medusa) and attracts several millions of visitors each year.

The Place de la Bastille

In its center stands the July column, surmounted by the famous Genie de la Liberté, commemorating the revolution of 1830. But it is for another revolution that the place is well known: that of 1789. At that time, it was occupied by the prison of the Bastille, symbol of the absolute power of the Ancien Régime. From this jail, destroyed shortly after the French Revolution, nothing remains. Today, the square is used as a setting for major popular events and as a meeting point for night owls frequenting the bars and restaurants around, including those in the rue de la Roquette, nearby. The square is also the starting point for a stroll on the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, on which one starts to discover courses and picturesque passages: passage of Chantier, court of the Star of gold, court of the Three Brothers ... On the square we also find the Opera designed by the architect Carlos Ott, this marvel of modern architecture with transparent facades. It is possible, during the day, to visit public homes, the auditorium with exceptional acoustics and backstage.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, located at the top of the Montmartre hill, a few minutes walk from our hotel, is a must-see Parisian building, attracting more than 10 million visitors a year. Its imposing silhouette of white stone, visible from the rooms of our hotel, is today part of the Parisian landscape. Inside, you can admire, on the ceiling of the apse, the largest mosaic in France, extending over 473 square squares. Finally, let us say that since the building, we have a splendid view of Paris, embracing 50 km round, grandiose panorama that will leave our customers in love with the capital an unforgettable memory.

The Canal Saint Martin

The Canal Saint-Martin is 4.55 km long. It connects the basin of Villette to the port of Arsenal, the marina of Paris, which communicates with the Seine. The canal inaugurated in 1825 is narrow, with nine locks and two swing bridges. It is bordered by the quays of Valmy and Jemmapes, on the edge of which is the Hotel du Nord, made famous by the film of the same name by Marcel Carné (1938). However, the film was shot at the studios of Billancourt where the decor of the canal was restored. Like Parisians, come and enjoy its banks to walk and even picnic. They are closed to cars every Sunday and public holidays from 10 am to 8 pm from the first Sunday of April to the last Sunday of September (summer time) and from 10 am to 18 pm h from the first Sunday of October to the last Sunday of March (winter time).
